The Core Collection of 1000 Great Yiddish Books
Libraries and scholars buying Yiddish books have always appreciated guidelines for ordering, so the Book Center long ago developed lists of books essential to the well-stocked library. But many important titles were rare or fragile, and copies had to be rationed or even omitted from these lists. With the advent of our Steven Spielberg Digital Yiddish Library, these titles became newly available as on-demand reprints. We asked Zachary Baker, Judaica Curator at Stanford University Libraries, to include these reprint editions in an updated, definitive list of essential Yiddish titles.
