This fotonovela exhibit by Ilan Stavans and Marcelo Brodsky is a fictional account that traces the streets of the Buenos Aires Jewish community several hours before a devastating terrorist attack, allowing the visitor to experience first-hand the atrocities and to ponder its labyrinthine twists.Once@9:53am is on display in the Yiddish Book Center's Brechner Gallery April 29, 2012 - October 21, 2012. Attend a film screening of El Abrazo Partido (The Lost Embrace) on Sunday, July 29 at 2 PM.

Former Book Center intern founds The Joseph Achron Society

Discover the Joseph Achron Society, which was founded by former Steiner intern and musician Sam Zerin. The organization's mission is to raise awareness of and interest in the music of Joseph Achron, who was perhaps the most talented, prolific, and original composer to come out of the St. Petersburg Society for Jewish Folk Music.

Beyond the Books: Leon Feinberg

Salting watermelon?  Smoking Pall Malls through a cigarette holder?  Norman Feinberg and Harriet Bonfeld give us a glimpse into the family life of a prominent Yiddish journalist of the 20th century.  Leon Feinberg, once the city editor for Der Tog (The Day) one of the major periodicals of New York City, also authored many Yiddish books of poetry and prose.
