Arthur Klein, long-time docent at the Yiddish Book Center, grew up in the 1920s and 1930s in "Bronsvil" (Brownsville, Brooklyn). He has a great memory for the "local color" of pool scams, bar mitzvahs on the cheap, and the poverty that followed the crash of 1929. The Yiddish Book Center's Wexler Oral History Project mourns the loss of his gentle soul.
