Disillusionment in Bergelson’s Writing
Professor Ruth Wisse explains that Bergelson began writing immediately after the failed Revolution of 1905, at a time of great disillusionment in Russia. This had a great effect on Bergelson’s writing, which has a tone of deep philosophic pessimism.
