Everyone Knew Each Other At My Wedding

Watch now:

Ruth Friede, daughter of Yiddish actor Yasha Sher and teacher Shulamis Giligich, and granddaughter of Yosef Giligitch, describes her wedding to explain how close her Yiddish community was. Of the 200 people attended, she says there was no one who didn't know each other. It was also her grandparents' 50th anniversary so they celebrated two milestones that day.

This is an excerpt from an oral history with Ruth Friede.

This excerpt is in Yiddish.

Ruth Friede was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1941.
