Past Tent Programs

Tent: Encounters with Jewish Culture was launched in 2013 and about 400 participants have taken part in twenty weeklong programs on a diverse range of topics, including creative writing, food, comedy, fashion, journalism, comics, museums, theater, and children's literature.

The workshops have taken place in New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, and Amherst—as well as one program, Tent: The South, that roadtripped from New Orleans to Memphis. Along the way, participants have had the chance to meet with experts in their fields and hear from guest speakers—among them, Angels in America playwright Tony Kushner, Los Angeles Times food critic Jonathan Gold, Transparent creator Jill Soloway, and Pulitzer-winning cartoonist Jules Feiffer.
