Social Media Policy

The Yiddish Book Center’s social media presence is designed for our community to discuss and engage with our collection, public programs, educational offerings, relevant news items, and more. The pages supplement our other communication vehicles, including our website and emails, and are intended to encourage cross-cultural understanding and new perspectives.

Posts, comments, and replies on our social media channels should be respectful and suitable for all ages.

The views expressed by our fans and followers are their own and may not represent the views of the Yiddish Book Center, our Board, employees, or affiliates.

The Yiddish Book Center may remove any comment or post on our social media pages at any time, for any reason, at the discretion of the organization. Each social media platform has its own terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the actions of the platform.

To maintain an accessible, informative, and civil space, we ask those who engage with our social media content to abide by the following guidelines:

Respectful
Hateful, defamatory, threatening, obscene, discriminatory, or harassing comments, images, or videos will not be tolerated. Such comments and posts will be removed and may result in being banned or blocked.

Relevance
We encourage discussion, but please keep comments relevant to the original post, and don’t repeat the same message across multiple unrelated posts. We ask that you read and listen with an open mind and engage in historical debate respectfully. We welcome you to share your own research, ask questions, and learn from the conversations. Off-topic posts or comments are likely to be removed.

We do our best to actively monitor and participate in discussions across our social media channels. However, please note that our platform checks occur at varying intervals throughout the day, which means we may not always respond to issues or inquiries immediately.
