Yiddish Books
The Yiddish Book Center is proud to offer online access, free of charge, to the full texts of nearly 11,000 out-of-print Yiddish titles. The books were scanned under the auspices of our Steven Spielberg Digital Yiddish Library, and are made available online through the Internet Archive.
Now you can search our collection by Keyword, Author or Title. You can also browse by author, title or Library of Congress subject heading. The Internet Archive offers different ways to view Yiddish books online. To view a right-to-left flipbook on your screen, choose the “Read Online” option on the left-hand side of the book page. To download or print, choose “PDF.”
To order used books
Many of the titles in our digital library are available as used books. Though some have yellowed or have brittle paper, most are shelf-worn but sound and complete. All titles are available as on-demand hardcover reprints. Reprints are printed on acid-free paper and sturdily bound; large print is available on request. To check availability of used books or to order reprints, please e-mail us at orders@bikher.org.
Used books are priced at $12 per volume and reprints at $48 per volume. Current Yiddish Book Center members receive a 25% discount on used Yiddish books and reprints. (Please note that membership is available to individuals only, not to institutions.) Shipping fees start at $7 for domestic shipments, plus $1 per additional book. International shipments are based on package weight and US Post Office packaging requirements.

About the Steven Spielberg Digital Yiddish Library
The Steven Spielberg Digital Yiddish Library was launched in 1998 by a major grant to the Yiddish Book Center by Steven Spielberg’s Righteous Persons Foundation. The grant enabled the Book Center to digitally preserve popular Yiddish titles in short supply, as well as many rare and fragile titles. The Spielberg Digital Yiddish Library is believed to be the first project to digitize an entire modern literature, preserving it permanently for future generations of readers, students, and scholars.
Major funding for the Steven Spielberg Digital Yiddish Library was provided by:
Lloyd E. Cotsen Trust
Arie & Ida Crown Memorial
The Seymour Grubman Family
David and Barbara B. Hirschhorn Foundation
Max Palevsky
Robert Price
Righteous Persons Foundation
Lief D. Rosenblatt
Sarah and Ben Torchinsky
Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation
