Application Information:
Our online form allows you to save a draft of your application. Click the “save draft” button at the bottom of the page and copy and save the secure link that appears in the green box at the top of the screen.
Your complete application must include:
- This form
- A cover letter (no more than two pages in length, uploaded below). In the cover letter, please describe your interest in the Yiddish Pedagogy Fellowship. What is your teaching philosophy? What plans do you have for teaching Yiddish? What are you hoping to learn over the course of the program?
- A Yiddish writing sample (no more than 3–4 paragraph prose writing sample in Yiddish, uploaded below)
- A Yiddish teaching sample (a video of a Yiddish class you’ve taught entirely or mostly in Yiddish. The recording should be about 20 minutes long and should show you teaching in a university, school, or community/group class with multiple students, not one-on-one tutoring.)
- For prospective Yiddish instructors who do not have a teaching sample: Please instead provide a Yiddish speaking sample (a 2–3-minute unscripted video in Yiddish, following this prompt: describe several people, whether real or fictional, in a flowing narrative. You may provide their names, ages, professions, likes and dislikes, basic physical description, etc.).
The application deadline is April 1, 2024. Acceptance decisions will be announced in May. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
